Custom Made Home Bars-Open-Plan Kitchens have become the social centers of the home, but when an occasion calls for cuff links and vintage reserve, a butcher-block island just can’t provide the atmosphere. For a couple in Singapore that wanted to venture outside the casual-Friday mind-set, New York interior designer Sara Story installed this intimate and determinedly soignée bar within their penthouse’s 700-square-foot living room.
custom made home bars, named one of the best young talents of 2011 by Elle Decor magazine, grouped lounge-friendly furniture in the room’s center, freeing up a perimeter wall to anchor the cocktail area. The deftly accessorized custom-designed bar reflects the home’s Art Deco-meets-Asia aesthetic, blending an ounce of conviviality with a base of functionality and a garnish of warm metals.
